State Junior High School 1 Singkep Selatan Successfully Implements Chromebook Device Optimization and In House Training (IHT) for Teachers in the Offline Computer-Based Test (CBT) Curriculum Freedom Learning Process Without Internet Connection

LINGGA - State Junior High School 1 Singkep Selatan, Lingga Regency, Riau Islands Province, conducted an optimization activity for Chromebook devices and In-House Training (IHT) for teachers within the school's internal setting. The event, held in the Multipurpose Room of SMPN 1 Singkep Selatan on 29/1 Rabiul Akhir 1445 H or coinciding with November 13-15, 2023, was officially opened by the Headmaster of SMPN 1 Singkep Selatan, Mr. Djunaidy, S.Pd.

This activity is a concrete effort by the school to advance education through the application of technology. With the spirit of the Freedom Learning Curriculum based on Computer-Based Test (CBT) offline without internet connection, SMPN 1 Singkep Selatan continues to innovate to make the learning and school examination processes more effective and efficient.

The event began with a warm welcome speech from Mr. Djunaidy, S.Pd, emphasizing the importance of utilizing technology in the field of education. He explained, "Technology-based learning is the future of our education. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring that our teachers have the skills and knowledge needed to implement the Freedom Learning Curriculum with the innovation of offline CBT-based school exams, as our school falls under the category of schools in 3T (Disadvantaged-Advanced-Outlying) areas."

Next, the event proceeded with a presentation by Azrani Ery Saputra, S.Pi, a speaker from the Integrated Digital Indonesia School Informal Community (KISDIT), who is an expert in the field. Teachers were invited to deeply understand the use of Chromebook devices and the implementation of offline CBT, especially in computer-based exams in their schools. These materials were specifically designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of technology use without relying on internet connectivity.

"We are aware that internet access in rural areas may not always be stable. Therefore, we focus on specific learning strategies, especially exams that can be conducted offline using Chromebook devices and any IT devices. This allows teachers and students to access exam materials without depending on internet connectivity," explained Mr. Tri Sulisto Anugrah, S.Pd.Gr, one of the participating teachers.

In addition to the material presentation, this activity also involved a hands-on practice session. Teachers were encouraged to directly implement the knowledge they gained during the In-House Training session. This was done with the hope that teachers could experience firsthand how to use Chromebook devices and other IT devices to improve the quality of exams in the classroom.

"Hands-on practice is crucial for teachers to feel confident and comfortable using these devices in the classroom. With direct experience, they can overcome obstacles that may arise during the learning process," added another participant, Mr. Muhammad Sidik, S.Pd.

The Chromebook device optimization and In-House Training event concluded with a question-and-answer session and discussion. Teachers could ask the speakers directly to clarify concepts that might still be confusing. This discussion also served as a forum for exchanging experiences among teachers in the implementation of technology in education.

"This activity is very beneficial. I feel more prepared to introduce technology-based learning in my classes. Thanks to SMPN 1 Singkep Selatan for this extraordinary initiative," said Mrs. Eva, S.Pd, who also participated in this activity.

With the success of the Chromebook device optimization and In-House Training activity, SMPN 1 Singkep Selatan demonstrates their commitment to improving the quality of education.
