Inaugural Visit of GERAM NGO's First Interaction with Sedamai Village in Singkep Pesisir Subdistrict, Lingga Regency


LINGGA-Non-governmental organization (NGO Geram) or the Generation of Melayu Youth conducted its inaugural visit to Sedamai Village, Singkep Pesisir Subdistrict, Lingga Regency, Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. The event, which took place on Monday, July 18, 2023, at the Sedamai Village office, aimed to introduce the Geram NGO to the village authorities and foster a stronger relationship between the NGO and the local village government.

During this historic event, the Head of Sedamai Village, Mr. Encik Sarip, warmly welcomed the presence of the Geram NGO in their visit. Additionally, representatives from the Regional Leadership Board (DPD) of LSM Geram, Mr. Zulfikar (Head of OKK Division), along with Mr. Johari (Public Relations Officer of Geram), were also present to explain the mission and vision of LSM Geram, as well as to outline the positive contributions they plan to make for Sedamai Village in the future.

In his warm address, Mr. Encik Sarip, as the Head of Sedamai Village, expressed his gratitude for the visit of LSM Geram to Sedamai Village. He stated, "We feel proud and happy to welcome the Geram NGO's visit to our village. We hope that their presence can bring benefits and positive contributions to the progress and welfare of the community in Sedamai Village in the future."

On the same occasion, Mr. Zulfikar conveyed the purpose of LSM Geram's visit. "LSM Geram is a non-profit organization committed to advancing the quality of life for the Malay community in the Riau Islands. We invite all parties, including the village government and the community, to collaborate and create synergy in developing a better and more competitive Sedamai Village."

The main theme of this visit was to introduce LSM Geram to the village authorities and open a space for dialogue and cooperation to realize programs that can improve the welfare of the people in Sedamai Village. During the insightful and warm discussions, both parties exchanged positive ideas to achieve progress together.

Mr. Encik Sarip welcomed this visit and hoped that LSM Geram could become a solid partner in the village's development. "We are ready to collaborate with LSM Geram to develop the potential of Sedamai Village, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, and community economic empowerment," he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Zulfikar reaffirmed LSM Geram's commitment to support the programs initiated by the village government. "We will help garner support from various parties to ensure the success of the programs implemented by Sedamai Village," he added.

The inaugural silaturahmi event concluded with a group photo in the office of the village head, where Mr. Encik Sarip hoped that LSM Geram's visit would be a good starting point in building a strong and sustainable collaboration for the welfare of the Sedamai Village community.

The Chairman of LSM Geram's Regional Leadership Board, Mr. Zulfikar, also conveyed, "We thank the warm welcome from the village authorities and the community. We hope this visit can be a positive initial activity for LSM Geram and the Sedamai Village Government and serve as an example for other villages in the Lingga region and beyond."

With this inaugural silaturahmi visit, LSM Geram (Malay Youth Generation) reaffirms their commitment to actively participate in the development and welfare of the Malay community in the Riau Islands. May these collaborative efforts bring long-term benefits for the progress of Sedamai Village, and may they serve as an inspiration for other NGOs and village authorities to continue building collaborations and working together to achieve better village development goals.
